Astegolimab is a medication that is used to treat asthma. It is a monoclonal antibody, which means it is a type of protein that is designed to target a specific substance in the body. In the case of astegolimab, the substance it targets is a protein called interleukin-5 (IL-5), which is thought to play a role in the development of asthma.

In most cases, these side effects are mild and resolve on their own within a few days. However, if you experience any of the following side effects while taking astegolimab, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately:
- Allergic reactions: Astegolimab can cause allergic reactions in some people. Symptoms of an allergic reaction can include difficulty breathing, hives, rash, itching, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. If you experience any of these symptoms while taking astegolimab, stop taking the medication and seek medical attention immediately.
- Changes in liver function tests: Astegolimab can cause changes in liver function tests, which are used to measure the health of the liver. If you experience symptoms such as fatigue, abdominal pain, or yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes while taking astegolimab, contact your healthcare provider.
- Changes in blood pressure: Astegolimab can cause changes in blood pressure. If you experience symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting while taking astegolimab, contact your healthcare provider.
If you are prescribed astegolimab, be sure to follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider. Do not take more or less of the medication than directed, and do not take it for a longer period of time than recommended. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, be sure to inform your healthcare provider. Astegolimab has not been studied in pregnant women, and it is not known if it is safe to use during pregnancy.
